Come Thou Fount of every blessing Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Lyrics from Come Thou Fount written by Robert Robinson. To those with an ear for music, it's easy to tell when something is out of tune. If you own a piano, you probably get it tuned regularly. My husband tunes his guitar every time before he plays. If you want to perform a song well, you need to be in tune. You can dress yourself up in designer clothes, buy the most expensive instrument, make it seem like you've put in the practice, and even invite lots of friends to come and see you. But when people actually listen to your performance, they're going to hear the truth. The same concept applies in our spiritual lives. In order to truly follow God to the best of our ability, we need for our hearts to be in tune with Him. Are you spending time in His word, listening to the truth in Scripture? Are you spending time communicating with Him in prayer? Are you spending time sharing His love by serving those around you who are in need? Just like with learning to play an instrument, you need to put in the time and effort to improve. Are you getting your heart in tune with God?
