“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.” - Philippians 2:14-16a The Bible is full of instruction on how Christians are to live. Some easy to understand and easy to apply. But most are difficult, with the goal of setting us apart from the rest of the world. Paul references words from the Old Testament that are still very applicable today: we live in “a warped and crooked generation.” And one way he tells us to set ourselves apart is to do everything without grumbling or arguing. That’s something much easier said than done. Humans love to complain. To brag about how rough we have it. But we’re called to live differently. Next time you catch yourself complaining or grumbling, try to remember these verses and change your conversation!
