Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. - Philippians 4:4-9 Paul likes words. And a lot of what he has to say in the Bible can be confusing and hard to read, but I find this section of scripture absolutely straight forward. Rejoice. All the time. Because you have God.
Be kind to everyone. Because you have God. Don't worry, and have peace. Because you have God. Keep your mind focused on what is good. Because you have God. Practice what is taught in the Bible. Because you have God. And God will be with you! Choosing joy is not always easy, especially when our circumstances leave us feeling anything but joyful. But our God loves us, is always with us, and has a divine plan for our lives. And if that isn't a reason to rejoice always, I don't know what is! Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. - James 1:2-4
